Jonathan Harris began his teaching career in 1999 and has been the
director of Instrumental Music at Northern Valley Regional High School
at Demarest since 2003 where he directs the Concert
Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Orchestra and the Pit Orchestra
of the All-School Musical. Under
his direction, the instrumental ensembles at Northern Valley have
continuously received top honors at concert festivals and competitions
along the east coast.
He currently sits on the Executive Board of the Music Educators of
Bergen County, Inc. as Corresponding Secretary. He served on the North Jersey School Music Association Region I
Executive Board as Band Division Chair from 2001-2006 and has served as
manager of the New Jersey All-State Wind Ensemble and Bergen County
Band. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from
William Paterson University and a Masters of Music degree in Music
Education from the University of Connecticut.
He is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from
the University of Cincinnati.

Leslie E. Mac Pherson is in her twenty-third year as music teacher at
the Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest. She teaches
Freshman Chorus, Sophomore Women's Choir, Concert Choir, Music Theory
and Music Technology. Mrs. Mac Pherson also serves as vocal director and
producer of the annual all-school musical production. She directs four
auditioned choirs; the Oriana Singers, Bel Canto, Beautyshop Chorus and
Barbershop Chorus. All of her choirs compete annually in music festival
trips and consistently receive Excellent or Superior ratings. Mrs. Mac
Pherson has been the Bergen County High School Chorus Audition
Chairperson since 1994 and serves as a member-at-large on the MEBCI
Executive Board. She was the conductor of the Bergen County Chorus in
1995. In February 2001, Leslie conducted the All-North Jersey Region I
High School Mixed Chorus. She was the All-State Women's Chorus conductor
in 2004, performing at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.
Through the years, Mrs. Mac Pherson has served as North Assistant
manager of the All-State Chorus and Transportation Coordinator of the
All-State Chorus, Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble. She plays flute in The
Valley Chamber Group and is active in the music activities of the First
Congregational United Church of Christ in Haworth, NJ. Mrs. Mac Pherson
received her BS in Music Education from
Lebanon Valley College and her
MA from Montclair State University. She continues taking graduate
courses each summer at Westminster Choir College and
Central Connecticut
State University.
